WHAT IS AGUNG RAI (ARMA) MUSEUM?

DESCRIPTION:

The Agung Rai Museum of Art  was established in May 13th, 1996 and it named after a Balinese art enthusiast Agung Rai & the ARMA foundation who conserve & develop of Balinese art and culture. The Agung Rai art museum was officially opened on June 9, 1996 by Prof. Dr. Ing. Wardiman Djojonegoro, Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.

Today the Agung Rai art museum has a great selection of art works from many famous Balinese artists and expats who have lived here and influenced local artists. It’s collection of foreign artworks by Balinese, Indonesian and foreign artists all were inspired by the natural beauty, life, and culture of Bali.

Visiting the Agung Rai Art Museum is a journey to see various cultural art forms such as painting, sculpture, wood carving, dance, mask, music, etc. The visit the Agung Rai Art Museum gain a better understanding and appreciation of Balinese art and culture. Even they have perform Bali dance show in the evening.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
There is no direct public transport to get there. You have to take multiple public transport to reach this place.

From UBUD :
If you stay in Ubud area you can just walk to this place.

From KUTA :
Please to reach Kuta Central Parking first – Then, find Trans SARBAGITA Bus Shelter/Halte.
Then take a Trans  SARBAGITA Bus Corridor 2 – Stop at Batubulan Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take a Mini/Micro Bus (Bemo) at Batubulan – Stop at Ubud.
Then take a walk to reach this place.

  • Fee: IDR 3,500 + IDR 20K.
  • Timetable: No.

From Ngurah Rai Airport :
Please to reach Ngurah Rai International Gate first – Then, find Trans SARBAGITA Bus Shelter/Halte.
Then take a Trans  SARBAGITA Bus Corridor 2 – Stop at Batubulan Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take a Mini/Micro Bus (Bemo) at Batubulan – Stop at Ubud.
Then take a walk to reach this place.

  • Fee: IDR 3,500 + IDR 20K.
  • Trans Sarbagita Timetable: 10.45 AM, 12.45 PM, 2.45 PM, 4.45 PM, 6.45 PM and 8.45 PM.

From DENPASAR :
Please to reach  ‘Pesanggaran’ or ‘Pedungan’ Trans SARBAGITA Bus Shelter/Halte first.
Then take a Trans  SARBAGITA Bus Corridor 2 – Stop at Batubulan Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take a Mini/Micro Bus (Bemo) at Batubulan – Stop at Ubud.
Then take a walk to reach this place.

  • Fee: IDR 3,500 + IDR 20K.
  • Timetable: No.

Other option: 
Please to reach Ubung Mini/Micro Bus Station first.
Then take a Bemo (Angkot) at Ubung – Stop at Batubulan Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus (Bemo) at Batubulan – Stop at Ubud.
Then take a walk to reach this place.

  • Fee: IDR 15K + IDR 20K.
  • Timetable: No.

More information about Bali public transportation system:

– Trans Sarbagita Bus Stop/Shelter/Halte.
– Batubulan Micro/Mini Bus Station.
– Ubung Micro/Mini Bus Station.

*) It’s really not efficient trip using public transport in Bali. Waste your time, energy and money. There is no fixed price in Bali transportation system, except Trans Sarbagita. If the passenger full loaded you will get the price above, but if quiet (little) passenger you will pay more expensive. Seems they applied operational cost basis since the public transport not so popular today (quiet).

**) For backpacker i recommend you to rent a scooter to reach this place and use google map as your navigator.

***) You can also use Go-jek or Grab transport. Their price reasonable, but you have to install the apps first and the driver may not be able to speak english.

****) You can also use Perama shuttle bus. Their price is reasonable, but you have to check their schedule first on their website for booking: Perama Shuttle Bus.

*****) There are two gate to enter the museum. The south gate and the west gate.

The classical & contemporary balinese dance evening show start on 7.30 PM. The ticket price is IDR 80K-100K per pax, not include the dinner. Better you arrive on 7.00 PM to get best seat position.

*) Every evening they perform balinese dance show. The dancer group always changing in everyday show.

**) You need to check the Bali lunar calendar to figure out what day is full moon or new moon time. Normally Full Moon is on 15th on Lunar Calendar and the New Moon is on 1st on Lunar Calendar.

ANNUALLY UBUD JAZZ FESTIVAL
The Ubud Village Jazz Festival (UVJF) is annual international jazz festival and empowered by communities. It was started on 2013 and held every year in the artistic surroundings of Ubud village, Bali. The Ubud Village Jazz Festival (UVJF) also facilitates a workshop of local and national music educators to investigate ways of getting more young people interested in playing Jazz. The Edu-Mission : involving new talents and music students.

    The collection of this museum was a great introduction to the Balinese culture&arts. I especially love, love the amazing batik pieces! Located in a quiet resort, the surroundings of this place is rather pleasant, too! One could easily spend an afternoon here:)

      Yes, ARMA surroundings is very nice.
      Many tree, beautiful garden, fish pond and the rice field.
