It’s near to other destination such as Tirta Gangga, Tulamben beach.

WHAT IS AMED BEACH?

DESCRIPTION:

Amed beach is a snorkeling spot in the east of Bali island. The small stones you will found in this beach. No sand, just small black stones. The black stone come from Agung volcano eruption, flow through the river and fulfilled the beach. That’s why this beach is so unique. The calm wave and gentle current makes easy to do underwater photography and snorkeling.

*) In my first visit i amazed there is no sand et all. It just the small black stones only. I really enjoy walking along the this beach. Seems the stones massage my foot print.

WHEN THE BEST TIME TO VISIT AMED BEACH?

DRY SEASON:
April – October.

*) On dry season the water clarity relative more clear than on the wet season.

**) On December and January are the peak of wet season. Heavy rain, storm and strong current might happen.

***) Since September 23rd, 2017 Amed beach closed due to Mt Agung activities.

****) Update info: Since February 10th, 2018  Agung volcano status changed from Level IV (highest) to Level III. The Amed beach available to be visited.

About 86 km northeast of Denpasar or 2 hour and 30 minutes.
About 75 km northeast of Ubud or 2 hour and 15 minutes.
About 99 km northeast of Kuta beach or 2 hours and 50 minutes.
About 100 km northeast of Ngurah Rai airport or 2 hour and 45 minutes.

HOW TO GET TO AMED BEACH?

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
There is no direct public transport to get there. You have to take multiple public transport to reach this place.

From UBUD :
Please take Mini/Micro Bus at Ubud – Stop at Batubulan Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus at Batubulan – Stop at Karangsokong Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus to Penarukan via Tulamben at Karangsokong – Stop at Culik market.
Then take a scooter taxi or hitchhike to reach this place.

  • Fee: IDR 20K + IDR 30K + IDR ? + IDR ?.
  • Timetable: No.

From KUTA :
Please to reach Kuta Central Parking first – Then, find Trans SARBAGITA Bus Shelter/Halte.
Then take a Trans  SARBAGITA Bus Corridor 2 – Stop at Batubulan Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus at Batubulan – Stop at Karangsokong Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus to Penarukan via Tulamben at Karangsokong – Stop at Culik market.
Then take a scooter taxi or hitchhike to reach this place.

  • Fee: IDR 3,500 + IDR 30K + IDR ? + IDR ?.
  • Timetable: No.

From Ngurah Rai Airport :
Please to reach Ngurah Rai International Gate first – Then, find Trans SARBAGITA Bus Shelter/Halte.
Then take a Trans  SARBAGITA Bus Corridor 2 – Stop at Batubulan Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus at Batubulan – Stop at Karangsokong Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus to Penarukan via Tulamben at Karangsokong – Stop at Culik market.
Then take a scooter taxi or hitchhike to reach this place.

  • Fee: IDR 3,500 + IDR 30K + IDR ? + IDR ?.

From North DENPASAR:
Please take a Bemo/Angkot at Ubung – Stop at Batubulan Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus at Batubulan – Stop at Karangsokong Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus to Penarukan via Tulamben at Karangsokong – Stop at Culik market.
Then take a scooter taxi or hitchhike to reach this place.

  • Fee: IDR 15K + IDR 30K + IDR ? + IDR ?.

From South DENPASAR:

– Trans Sarbagita Bus Stop/Shelter/Halte.
– Batubulan Micro/Mini Bus Station.
– Ubung Micro/Mini Bus Station.
– Karangsokong Micro/Mini Bus Station.

*) It’s really not efficient trip using public transport in Bali. Waste your time, energy and money. There is no fixed price in Bali transportation system, except Trans Sarbagita. If the passenger full loaded you will get the price above, but if quiet (little) passenger you will pay more expensive. Seems they applied operational cost basis since the public transport not so popular today (quiet).

**) For backpacker i recommend you to rent a scooter to reach this place and use google map as your navigator.

***) You can not use Go-jek or Grab transport because the distance so far and it’s hard for them to find other passenger on the way back.

****) You can go to Gili island from this beach. Pay only IDR 200K for one way trip.

Not very good signal in some spots.

There are many cafe, bar & restaurant.

*) I’m so lucky that i had breathless sunrise moment on Amed beach. I think this is my best sunrise picture in Bali.
