WHAT IS BALI PROVINCE MUSEUM?

DESCRIPTION:

Bali Province Museum or simply referred as the Bali Museum is the oldest museum in Bali. It was designed on 1931 by Dutch architect P.J. Moojen and handled by Bali Museum Institution. It was opened officially on 8 December 1932 with the name of Bali Museum.

The Bali museum located near Puputan Badung park and Pura Jagatnatha temple. The building structure concept was solidarity of the structure between temple building (Pura) and Palace (Puri). It was just like the first planning in 1910 that founded by Governmental functionary of Dutch, Bali King, Society Prominent, all artists.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
There is no direct public transport to get there. You have to take multiple public transport to reach this place.

From UBUD:
Please take a Mini/Micro Bus at Ubud – Stop at Batubulan Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take a Bemo/Angkot at Batubulan – Stop at Kreneng Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take a walk to reach this place.

  • Fee: IDR 20K + IDR 15K.
  • Timetable: No.

From KUTA:
Please to reach Simpang Siur first – Then, find Trans SARBAGITA Bus Shelter/Halte (Dewa Ruci halte).
Then take a Trans  SARBAGITA Bus Corridor 1 – Stop at Surapati Bus Shelter/Halte.
Then take a walk to reach this place.

  • Fee: IDR 3,500.
  • Timetable: No.

From Ngurah Rai Airport :
Please to reach Ngurah Rai International Gate first – Then, find Trans SARBAGITA Bus Shelter/Halte.
Then take a Trans  SARBAGITA Bus Corridor 2 – Stop at Dewa Ruci halte.
Then take a Trans  SARBAGITA Bus Corridor 1 – Stop at Surapati halte.
Then take a walk to reach this place.

  • Fee: IDR 3,500 + IDR 3,500.
  • Timetable: No.

– Ubung Micro/Mini Bus Station.

*) It’s really not efficient trip using public transport in Bali. Waste your time, energy and money. There is no fixed price in Bali transportation system, except Trans Sarbagita. If the passenger full loaded you will get the price above, but if quiet (little) passenger you will pay more expensive. Seems they applied operational cost basis since the public transport not so popular today (quiet).

**) For backpacker i recommend you to rent a scooter to reach this museum and use google map as your navigation.

***) You can also take a taxi or you can take an online scooter taxi such as Go-jek or Grab bike. Their fee is reasonable. But, you have install the apps first. The driver might be can not speak english.

*) Balinese use a dried palm leaf as a paper. In the past time it used for wrote hindu holy bible (Veda) and King’s letter.

*) This character is Rangda. It’s symbol of devil or bad spirit or bad energy.

*) This is a man genital or ‘Dick’ statue. It’s a symbol of prosperity.

*) These are vintage Balinese calendar. The upside is a calendar in a month, the downside is for a year.

*) It’s made from coconut and they used the shadow to find the clock. Seems today no body want to wear it because it’s too heavy. 🙂

*) In the magical coins it has a character could be a horse, an elephant or Arjuna. The local people believe that they will get the strength of the character if you wear/bring the magical coins. You will be strong like an elephant or fast like a horse or maybe handsome like Arjuna to attract a lot of women. 😉

*) Men Brayut or Mrs. Brayut was a lady who didn’t love or haven’t a baby before. But, after a Hindu Priest gave an explain, then she decided to have a baby. She loved a baby so much after her first baby’s birth, then she decided to have a baby more until eleven sons. She really enjoyed as a mother and realized that become a mother is a part of life itself.
