Hi, apakah sarbagita sekarang masih beroperasi? Kalau naik ojol dari mengwi adakah? Amankah? Mau ke legian kuta, butuh rekomendasi kesananya. Thankyou!

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Hi,
      lalu anda memesan/order Ojek online.

      Hi,
Trans SARBAGITA still operates till now.
But, today they have a requirement if you want to use their services.
The passenger should be 10 persons minimum.
Otherwise, they don’t want departing to Ubung minibus station.
From Ubung minibus station you can take an online scooter taxi to Kuta or Legian.
Online scooter taxi such as Go-jek or Grab bike.
      Their fee is reasonable price.
But, you should walk out from Ubung area before order an online scooter taxi.
Ubung minibus station must sterile from any online taxi.

Hello, amazingly to found your blog it’s help me a lot. And here my question, what the best transportation to go Airport from Mengwi station?
Thanks, in advance for your answer.

      1. kunzbali Post author

        Hello, Jasi.

The word ‘best’ is so subjective for anyone.
Here i give you some options, so you can choose which one is the best for you.

There are some options to reach Bali international airport from Mengwi bus station:
        1. Online transport such as Grab or Go-jek.
        2. Multiple public transport.
        3. Combined online and public transport.

        Here for more details:
        1. Online transport such as Grab or Go-jek:
        Pros:
        – Efficient & effective transport.
        – More fast and reliable to catch the flight to the airport.
        – Relative cheaper than taxi/cab.
        Cons:
        – Relative more expensive due to long distance (Mengwi-Airport).
        – It can not enter the bus station.
        – Unlike other place, in Mengwi bus station it’s relative long time to get it.

        2. Multiple public transport:
        1) Take a Trans Sarbagita bus at Mengwi and stop at Ubung Mini/micro bus station.
        2) Then take an Angkot/Bemo/Suzuki Carry at Ubung and stop at Batubulan Mini/micro bus station.
        3) Then take a Trans Sarbagita bus Corridor 2 at Batubulan and stop at Bali Ngurah Rai Airport.
        Pros:
        – Relative cheaper than other transport.
        Cons:
        – It’s relative long time to get it.
        – Some of Trans Sarbagita bus Corridor 2 can not enter the airport.
        – Inefficient transport.

        3. Combined online and public transport:
        1) Take a Trans Sarbagita bus at Mengwi and stop at Ubung Mini/micro bus station.
        2) Go out of Ubung and order Grab or Go-jek.
        Pros:
        – Efficient & effective transport.
        – Relative cheaper than option number 1.
        Cons:
        – It’s relative long time to get Trans Sarbagita bus at Mengwi bus station.
        – You can not order Grab or Go-jek at Ubung bus station.

Just choose the options which one is the ‘best’ transport for you.

    1. kunzbali Post author

The Trans Sarbagita bus at Mengwi bus station going to Ubung minibus station only.
They don’t go to any places in Denpasar city.
Well, Ubung minibus station located in Denpasar actually.
North side of Denpasar city exactly.

  2. Bayu alam putra oki

    1. kunzbali Post author

Thank you for share your experience at Mengwi bus station.
Usually this kind issue happened in Ubung minibus station only.
Seems it happened also in Mengwi bus station.

  3. Rania

Terima kasih

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Halo,

From Mengwi bus station to Nusa Dua,
there is no Trans Sarbagita bus route.
      Here the option for you:
      Option 1:
      1. Take a Trans Sarbagita bus and stop at Ubung minibus station.
      2. Take an online scooter taxi such as Go-jek or Grab and stop at Nusa Dua.
      Option 2:
      1. Take a Trans Sarbagita bus and stop at Ubung minibus station.
      2. Take an Angkot/Bemo and stop at Batubulan mini/microbus station.
      3. Take a Trans Sarbagita bus Corridor 2 and stop at Nusa Dua area.
      Option 3:
      1. Take a Trans Sarbagita bus and stop at Ubung minibus station.
      2. Take an online scooter taxi such as Go-jek or Grab and stop at ‘Tohpati’ bus stop.
      3. Take a Trans Sarbagita bus Corridor 2 and stop at Nusa Dua area.
The option number 3 is cheaper and efficient than other option.

Well, honestly i was afraid also after read it from the internet.
But, after i tried visited it,
      nothing happened on me.
As long you just say ‘No’ to them and don’t pay attention to them,
then walk out from Ubung/Mengwi bus station,
      i think you will safe.
Also don’t put face as stupid face or new comer face (tolah-toleh).
Otherwise, they will come to you and try to fool and force you.
Just act and put face that seen you get used to with this place (bus station).
Walk out from the bus station with confidence.
      I think you will safe,
you won’t be a victim of the Panders or ‘Preman’.

There is no Trans Sarbagita bus at Gilimanuk sea port (Ferry port).
You will find it at Mengwi bus station only.
It located in the north of AKAP bus stop at Mengwi bus station.
You can use Google map to check the north direction,
or ask the people in the simple cafe (warung) at Mengwi bus station.

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Hi,
Well, it’s more near/closer from Mengwi to Ubud than Ubung to Ubud.
But, there is no public transport direct to Ubud from Mengwi.
      They have taxi/cab to Ubud.
But, the price will be very expensive. Around IDR 300K-400K.
Maybe you can try online taxi such as Grab car or Go car.
Their price reasonable than common taxi/cab. Around IDR 80K-100K.
You need to walk out of Mengwi bus station first before you order Go-car or Grab car because it’s not allowed to enter the bus station area.
      I don’t recommend an online scooter/bike taxi,
Ubud area not allowed to any online scooter/bike taxi.
Except, the scooter driver remove all the attribute and the logo.

  4. flora thiam

Hi, I want to go from denpasar to Jakarta. Can I buy my bus ticket on the same day I leave? Would it be better to buy it online on easybook?
    Thanks

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Hi,
Well, if you buy on the site there will be many people come to you offering the ticket.
The problem is we never know which one is the official one and the true price.
I suggest you to try to book online.

Yes, you can buy on the same day you leave.

      I just checked easybook.com
Seems not much bus operator on their list.
I mean not much bus option for compare the price.
Otherwise, you can try book online on their official website.
If not working (server offline or stupid system),
then you can go direct to Mengwi bus station.
      Ask the price first.
Use the price on easybook.com as your base price.
Take it if cheaper than easybook price.

      Update comment:
I found traveloka.com offering bus & shuttle ticket.
There are many bus option from different bus company/operator.
So, you can compare the price and the facilities.

    1. kunzbali Post author

Take a microbus/minibus at Gilimanuk and stop at Ubung mini/micro bus station.
Then take an ‘Angkot/Bemo’ at Ubung minibus station and stop at Tegal Sari minibus station.
Then take a microbus/minibus at Tegal Sari and stop at Kuta Central parking.
Then you can take a walk to the Kuta Family guest house,
it’s around 2.2 km or 30 minutes walking.
You can also take a Grab bike or Go-jek if you lazy to walk.

  5. Antony

H, thanks for your website. I am still struggling to find the right mode of transport for my journey with a suitcase. I am planning to take economic train Banyuwangi – Surabaya departing at 1.50 pm (Java time). Is there a morning bus or microbus from Mengwi/Ubung/Denpasar to Gilimanuk which will give me enough time to catch that train ?
I checked traveloka, there is Madjoe Berlian bus from Mengwi terminal – Banyuwangi 09.30-12.30 (Java time), but I do not know how reliable this timetable is, or if the bus will only leave when it is full.

And is it possible to get Grab/Uber from Kuta (my first point of departure) to Mengwi ?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. kunzbali Post author

Hi, thanks for visit my website.
Well, you can’t trust or depend on their services actually.
Except the Trans Sarbagita bus, all the public transport in Bali are shit.

It will take about 3 hours trip from Denpasar to Gilimanuk.
But, if any accident or some ceremonies along the way,
it will take 5 hours trip in worst scenario.
So, better you take early morning time departing.
      Around 6-7 am from Denpasar.
It will give you a few hours before the your train departing.
So, it won’t rush and safe enough for you.
You can take a mini/micro bus at Ubung bus station.
It will go direct to Gilimanuk sea port.
Then take a Ferry to Ketapang seaport.
It will take 30-40 minutes only.
Then take a walk to Banyuwangi Baru train station.

Well, it’s possible to get Grab/Uber from Kuta to Ubung or Mengwi bus station.
      You’re welcome.

      1. Antony

        Hi,

Many thanks for all the details.
Departing 6-7am from Denpasar, I suppose you meant from Ubung station with mini/microbus ? Or a company bus (such as Damri) departing from their office in Denpasar ?

If with mini/microbus, will they accept passengers with suitcase ?
And I heard of dodgy touts in Ubung station. For the mini/microbus, will it be better to wait for it outside Ubung station

        Cheers !

        1. kunzbali Post author

          Hi Antony,

Yes, start at 7 AM from Ubung by Mini/Micro bus.
          Don’t take a Damri bus.
          It’s super slow.
I’ve tried before and they stopped for two hours in Ubung,
          just waiting for other passenger.
          Waste your time.

I think it’s ok if they have some space for your suitcase.
Even the local people sometime brought a lot of stuff inside the Mini/Micro Bus.

Yes, so many dodgy touts in Ubung bus station.
better wait the Mini/Micro Bus out of Ubung Bus Station.
You can also wait along the way between Ubung and Gilimanuk.
You don’t have to wait in Ubung bus station.
Better a few hundreds meter of Ubung Mini/Micro Bus Station for safe and comfort reason.

          Good luck!

  6. Antony

    Thank you, Rony.
I have to admit that your website is amazing and very helpful.
Btw, I saw in one of your webpages that traffic to the north of Ubud can be very busy in the weekend.
Is that also the case along the main road Ubung-Gilimanuk ? I am planning to take the minibus on a Saturday.

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Thank you, Antony.
There are a lot of attractions in around Ubud,
including in the north of Ubud.
Many local people come here on weekend.
That’s why the attraction will be crowded.
Yes, the traffic to the north will be relative heavy.

The road Ubung-Gilimanuk relative heavy on friday evening and saturday morning.
People from Java that close to Bali such as Banyuwangi, Jember, Situbondo, Pasuruan,
usually they will come back to their hometown on the weekend,
after working in Bali on weekdays.
So, it’s relative heavy on friday evening, saturday morning and sunday evening.

    1. kunzbali Post author

There is no public transport from Mengwi to Ubud.
But, they have taxi/cab in Mengwi bus station which is expensive price.
I recommend you to order online transport such as Go-jek or Grab.
      Their price is reasonable price.

        1. kunzbali Post author

          You’re welcome.
          Oh, congratulation. That’s awesome!
Too bad i can’t join to be volunteer since i still in Yogyakarta until next July.
Good luck for the festival then!;-)

    1. kunzbali Post author

From Sanur beach you can walk to Matahari Terbit 2 halte/shelter/bus stop.
You need across a highway, Jl Bypass Ngurah Rai before reach the bus stop.
Then take a Trans Sarbagita bus corridor 2 route Nusa Dua to Batubulan.
Then stop at Batubulan bus station or Jembatan Timbang dishub.
Then take an Angkot/Bemo/Mikrolet/Suzuki Carry route Batubulan to Ubung.
Then stop at Ubung bus station.
Then take a Trans Sarbagita bus route Ubung to Mengwi.
Then stop at Mengwi bus station.

Well, the public transport in Bali truly not efficient trip.
It will waste a lot of your time and energy.
Also you can not depend on it since they don’t have time table.

Otherwise, you can use online transport services such as Go-jek or Grab.
Their price reasonable and very efficient.
But, you have install the apps first.
Also some of the driver can’t speak english.
Maybe better if you prepare a translation apps/dictionary for communication.

        1. kunzbali Post author

          Well, it’s true.
But, you can use Gojek from Sanur to Ubung.
Then from Ubung to Mengwi you can use a Trans Sarbagita bus or Minibus/Microbus.

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Hi,
Can you more specific for the Jimbaran area?
      It’s wide area actually.
Well, i’ll try to answer your question.

From Mengwi bus station you can take a Trans Sarbagita bus route Mengwi to Ubung and stop at Ubung Micro/mini bus station.
Then, take Angkot/bemo/microlet/Suzuki Carry route Ubung to Tegal Sari and stop at Tegal Sari Micro/mini bus station.
Then, take a Minibus/microbus/Isuzu route Tegal Sari to Kuta and stop at Kuta Central Parking.
Then, take a Trans Sarbagita bus route Batubulan to Nusa Dua and stop at Jimbaran 1 or Jimbaran 2 bus stop (Halte).

    1. kunzbali Post author

      You can use a Microbus/minibus/Isuzu Elf/Mitsubishi Colt.
It’s answer all of your question.
For the timetable, they don’t have.
They will start departing when they feel enough passenger to start departing.
By the way, this kind of transport not enter Mengwi Bus Station.
It just pass the main street near Mengwi Bus Station.
It’s about 500 meter south of Mengwi bus station or 8 minutes walking.
Just info, after 1 PM usually is hard to find them.

Hello, I am planning to take a flight to Denpasar airport and travel from there to Banyuwangi. My understanding is that I would need to first transfer to Mengwi bus station and catch a bus there to Gilimanuk (or directly to Banyuwangi?).
Could you advise please what would be the best way to do it? Are there any public transport options from the airport? Many thanks!

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Hello,
What part of Banyuwangi you want to visit?
Is it Banyuwangi city/regency or Ketapang, Banyuwangi?
What is your plan? Where is your destination?
I need to ask this to understand the point of your question.

If your destination is Banyuwangi city/regency,
better you take a bus at Mengwi bus station.
But, if your destination is Ketapang Banyuwangi,
then you can take a Mini/Micro bus at Ubung Minibus station.
After that you can continue take a Ferry to Ketapang Banyuwangi.

There is a public transport from airport to Ubung or Mengwi bus station.
      But, it’s not go directly.
      You will take multi transport.
Change the transport again and again.
      Here the details:
      1. Take a Trans Sarbagita bus at airport and stop at Kuta central parking.
Timetable: 11 AM, 3 PM and 7 PM.
      2. Take a mini/micro bus (Isuzu or Mitsubishi) at Kuta central parking and stop at Tegal Sari mini/micro bus station.
      3. Take an Angkot/Bemo (Suzuki Carry) at Tegal Sari and stop at Ubung mini/micro bus station.
If you want to continue to Mengwi bus station,
you can take a Trans Sarbagita bus at Ubung and stop at Mengwi bus station.

All the process really waste your time, energy and even your money.
Better you take a Grab or Go-jek from airport.
They are so efficient and the price reasonable.
But, you have to install the apps first before order it.
Good luck and have a nice trip!

Thank you so much for the comprehensive reply! My final destination is Ijen crater and this is why I want to get to Banyuwangi. The plan is to catch a flight from Komodo, get to Bali and then travel by land to Java. I want to approach it from the east since later on I have also other places to see (like Bromo) on the island and finally I need to get to Jakarta. Any advices/recommendations regarding this plan please?
Following your suggestion I am definitely leaning towards Grab/Go-jek to avoid the hassle.
        Thanks!

        1. kunzbali Post author

If you want to visit Ijen crater,
better you take a Micro/Mini Bus at Ubung Mini/micro bus station.
Then stop at Gilimanuk sea port.
Then take a Ferry to Ketapang, Banyuwangi.
Then take a scooter taxi to Karangasem train station from Ketapang.
The distance about 14 km or about 30 minutes driving.
Find a backpacker basecamp called ‘Rumah Singgah Banyuwangi’.
It’s near to Karangasem train station and it’s a free place to stay.
          Nice, clean and friendly people.
You will meet other traveler here.
In the midnight you can start trip to Ijen crater by scooter.
Yes, you need to rent a scooter in here.
After you visit Ijen crater and finish the the Ijen tour,
you can come back here and take a train to Probolinggo city.
Then continue your trip to Bromo volcano.
          Have a nice trip!

      Hi,

You can take a Grab or Go-jek from Mengwi bus station to Seminyak.
But, the price will be expensive.
I suggest you to take a Trans Sarbagita bus at Mengwi to Ubung bus station.
Then take a Grab or Go-jek at Ubung to Seminyak.
You need walk out from Ubung first before you order Grab or Go-jek.

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Hello,

Make sure you will arrive on day time at Mengwi bus station.
So, you can continue to the next public transport.
After arrive Mengwi, you can take a Trans Sarbagita bus and stop at Ubung bus station.
Then take an Angkot (Suzuki Carry) and stop at Batubulan bus station.
Then take a Trans Sarbagita bus at Batubulan bus station.
But, make sure what time you arrive at Batubulan bus station.
If more than 2 pm, the Trans Sarbagita bus will stop at Jembatan Timbang.
You may walk 250 meter from Batubulan bus station.
Then take a Trans Sarbagita bus and stop at Matahari Terbit halte or Sindhu halte.
For more info about Trans Sarbagita bus schedule on each bus station,
you can click the link about Mengwi bus station and Batubulan bus station below the article.

The other option you can take Go-jek or Grab at Ubung to Sanur.
But, you have to walk out from Ubung bus station first.

I think Mengwi more safe than Ubung.
Well, the issue is not about ‘Pemalakan”.
But, it’s about Dodgy touts who lift up the price and force you to use a transport.
Just don’t put your face as a new comer face (tolah-toleh).
Otherwise, they will come to you and try to fool and force you.
Just act and put face that seen you get used to this place (bus station).
Walking with confidence and keep cool.
      I think you will safe.
Good luck and have a nice trip!

    Hello,
My expatriate boos is planning to go to Denpasar from Banyuwangi.
Is it convenience for him to use ferry and take taxi from Banyuwangi?
If yes, please advise which Terminal he should depart from (Mengwi or Ubung)?

    Thank you in advance.

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Hello Rika,

Sorry, i don’t understand your question.
      Please correct your question first.
Maybe better you write in Bahasa.

      1. Rika

        Hello,

        1. kunzbali Post author

          Hello,

Is it Mutiara Timur Siang or Mutiara Timur Malam?

If you mean official taxi, there is no official taxi in Gilimanuk harbour.
If official taxi exist, it will be super expensive.

          The available transport in Gilimanuk:
          1. Minibus/Microbus/Isuzu/Mitsubishi.
Cheap, no aircon, long trip and will stop at Ubung bus station, Denpasar.
          2. Unofficial taxi use Toyota Avanza or Sedan.
Expensive, comfort, fast and will stop to your destination.
          3. Medium and Large bus.
Available in late afternoon, evening and night time only.
The facilities depend on the bus class.
It will stop at Mengwi bus station.

If you use Mutiara Timur Siang which is will stop on 3.20 pm at Banyuwangi Baru station,
i suggest you to take a bus at Ketapang harbour and stop t Mengwi bus station.
So, you don’t need to pay Ferry boat fee.
Then take a Trans Sarbagita bus at Mengwi and stop at Ubung bus station.
Then take an online transport such as Grab or Go-jek.
But, you have to walk out of bus station first.

If you use Mutiara Timur Malam which is will stop on 4.15 am at Banyuwangi Baru station,
i suggest you to take a Ferry at Ketapang harbour and stop at Gilimanuk harbor.
Then around 6-7 am take a Microbus/Minibus/Isuzu/Mitsubishi at Gilimanuk and stop at Ubung bus station.
Then take an online transport such as Grab or Go-jek.
But, you have to walk out of bus station first.

For more detail about transport in Gilimanuk harbour,
          you can check it here:

          Have a nice trip!

    1. kunzbali Post author

      Hello,

As you need to understand, Mengwi bus station is for buses inter cities to other province.
In Indonesian called as Antar Kota Antar Propinsi (AKAP).
It means no bus go to Gilimanuk harbour as the final destination.
They just pass Gilimanuk harbour and then continue to the next city.

If you want to go to Gilimanuk harbour, i suggest you to take a Microbus or Minibus.
You can take it at Ubung bus station or along the main road between Ubung and Gilimanuk.

If you still want to take a bus at Mengwi bus station, the price could be more expensive.
Maybe you can try bargain the price to the bus agent in Mengwi.
For bus schedule & price you can check at traveloka.com
