WHAT IS TOYAPAKEH PORT/HARBOUR?

DESCRIPTION:

Toyapakeh port is a port positioned in Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia, exactly in the area of Toyapakeh village, Nusa Penida district, Klungkung regency, Bali, Indonesia. Toyapakeh consist of two words, Toya and Pakeh. Toya means water. Pakeh means salty. So, Toyapakeh means a salty water.

Toyapakeh Village was founded by migrants in Klungkung kingdom era. They are from Java, Bugis and Banjarmasin. Unlike other village in Nusa Penida, the majority religion in this village is Islam. Today Toyapakeh harbour become crowd port as fast as Nusa Penida popularity.

*) There is a misconception among the international traveler. They called Toyapakeh & Sanur port is a Ferry port. Toyapakeh & Sanur port is a Fast/Speed boat port actually.

**) Ferry port only at Padang Bai, Gilimanuk harbour and Sampalan. No Ferry boat at Toyapakeh & Sanur port.

About 8.5 km west of Nusa Penida ferry port or 20 minutes.
About 7.7 km west of Buyuk harbour or 17 minutes.
About 9.1 km west of Sampalan harbour or 20 minutes.

*) There are some spots for Fast/Speed boat port that spread along the beaches in Nusa Penida such as Buyuk, Ped, Sampalan. But, the location are quiet far.

**) Toyapakeh is the biggest Fast/Speed boat port in Nusa Penida.

HOW TO GET TO TOYAPAKEH PORT/HARBOUR?

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
There is no public transport to get there.

*) For backpacker i recommend you to rent a scooter to reach this place and use google maps as your navigator. Otherwise, for comfort and safety reason you can take a tour by a car since the road so small and broken (bumpy).

**) Scooter rental fee in Nusa Penida island around IDR 70K-75K per day. If you rent for 3 days you may get cheap price.

***) The gas station in the northern of Nusa Penida only, there is no gas station in the southern. Also it will closed on 7 PM, except only Toyapakeh gas station who will closed on 9 PM.

GOOD TIPS WHEN YOU IN FAST BOAT TRIP:

1. Windproof jacket.

Bringing wind visor jacket might be a wise choice. It will be a windy trip because the boat quiet fast. Other option you can use a scarf.

2. Sun glasses.

Sometime it will be sunny day on the boat. Also water splash sometime come to passenger position. It depend on the wind direction. In this case i recommend you to bring your glasses. A Sunglasses even better.

3. Seat Position.

If you can not tolerate to be shaken, better you choose seat position in the back side. Front side more stronger than back side. This straits facing Indonesia ocean. So, the waves sometime higher and strong. Mid day and late afternoon trip usually more shaken up.

4. Short.

Wearing a short is a nice idea. Sanur port is not really a seaport. It just a beach. That’s why you will getting wet when reaching  Sanur port. It’s good idea if you wearing short.
