WHY BACKPACKER SHOULD VISIT THIS BEACH?

UNIQUE BEACH
This beach not fulfilled by sand, but small stones.
It caused by the materials of Agung volcano eruption.

PARADISE FOR DIVER
Snorkeling and diving are popular in this beach.
Volcano materials impact to biodiversity of fish & coral.

DRAMATIC SUNRISE
The beach facing to the east & Lombok island.
Beautiful  & scenic sunrise you will got.

NEAR OTHER DESTINATION
It’s near to other destination such as Tirta Gangga, Tulamben beach.
You can combine to visit those places.

DESCRIPTION:

Tulamben beach is a diving spot in the east of Bali island and offering underwater paradise. It’s a place where the fantasy of many divers turn on, shipwreck diving, deep diving, underwater photography and night diving.

WHEN THE BEST TIME TO VISIT IT?

OPENING HOURS:
6.00 AM – 5.00 PM.

DRY SEASON:
April – October.

*) On dry season the water clarity relative more clear than on the wet season.

**) On December and January are the peak of wet season. Heavy rain, storm and strong current might happen.

***) Since September 23rd, 2017 Amed beach closed due to Mt Agung activities.

****) Update info: Since February 10th, 2018  Agung volcano status changed from Level IV (highest) to Level III. The Amed beach available to be visited.

DISTANCE:
About 91 km northeast of Denpasar or 2 hour and 30 minutes.
About 84 km east of Ubud or 2 hour and 15 minutes.
About 106 km northeast of Kuta beach or 2 hours and 50 minutes.
About 108 km northeast of Ngurah Rai airport or 3 hour.

HOW TO GET TO THE LOCATION?

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
There is no direct public transport to get there. You have to take multiple public transport to reach this place.

From UBUD :
Please take Mini/Micro Bus at Ubud – Stop at Batubulan Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus at Batubulan – Stop at Karangsokong Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus to Penarukan via Tulamben at Karangsokong – Stop at Tulamben.

  • Fee: IDR 20K + IDR 30K + IDR ?.
  • Timetable: No.

From KUTA :
Please to reach Kuta Central Parking first – Then, find Trans SARBAGITA Bus Shelter/Halte.
Then take a Trans  SARBAGITA Bus Corridor 2 – Stop at Batubulan Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus at Batubulan – Stop at Karangsokong Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus to Penarukan via Tulamben at Karangsokong – Stop at Tulamben.

  • Fee: IDR 3,500 + IDR 30K + IDR ?.
  • Timetable: No.

From Ngurah Rai Airport :
Please to reach Ngurah Rai International Gate first – Then, find Trans SARBAGITA Bus Shelter/Halte.
Then take a Trans  SARBAGITA Bus Corridor 2 – Stop at Batubulan Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus at Batubulan – Stop at Karangsokong Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus to Penarukan via Tulamben at Karangsokong – Stop at Tulamben.

  • Fee: IDR 3,500 + IDR 30K + IDR ?.
  • Timetable: No.

From North DENPASAR:
Please take a Bemo/Angkot at Ubung – Stop at Batubulan Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus at Batubulan – Stop at Karangsokong Mini/Micro Bus Station.
Then take Mini/Micro Bus to Penarukan via Tulamben at Karangsokong – Stop at Tulamben.

  • Fee: IDR 15K + IDR 30K + IDR ?.
  • Timetable: No.

From South DENPASAR:
Please to reach Kuta Central Parking first – Then, find Trans SARBAGITA Bus Shelter/Halte.

– Trans Sarbagita Bus Stop/Shelter/Halte.
– Batubulan Micro/Mini Bus Station.
– Ubung Micro/Mini Bus Station.
Karangsokong Micro/Mini Bus Station.

*) It’s really not efficient trip using public transport in Bali. Waste your time, energy and money. There is no fixed price in Bali transportation system, except Trans Sarbagita. If the passenger full loaded you will get the price above, but if quiet (little) passenger you will pay more expensive. Seems they applied operational cost basis since the public transport not so popular today (quiet).

**) For backpacker i recommend you to rent a scooter to reach this place and use google map as your navigator.

***) You can not use Go-jek or Grab transport because the distance so far and it’s hard for them to find other passenger on the way back.

MOBILE PHONE SIGNAL:
Not very good signal in some spots.

CAFE/RESTAURANT:
There are some cafe, bar & restaurant.

HOTEL & STAY:
Some resort, hotel & hostel along the beach.

*) I haven’t try diving here. Last time i felt my body not so well, so i decided not diving. Maybe next time.

**) This beach almost same like Amed beach. It’s full of stones, not sands. But, the stone size bigger than Amed beach.
